As a purpose-driven fact tank, we aim to make it as easy as possible to reuse our data, charts, and insights.
That’s why every table and chart has a share button (bottom right corner), allowing you to:
- Download the data for deeper analysis.
- Download the image for presentations and reports.
- Copy the embed code to add it to your own site.
Want to share a specific chart? Click Open or Copy URL to get a direct link to its webpage.
Before you reuse, embed, or distribute our content, here’s what you need to know.
License to Reuse Our Data, Charts, and Ideas
Our data comes from many sources and serves many purposes. We balance public access with the need to sustain the resources it takes to create and maintain this service.
We want to help you use our data, where appropriate.
That’s why different charts and tables come with different licensing terms.
Creative Commons Content (CC BY 4.0)
For public-interest data sourced from publicly available sources, we license it under Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0).
How to identify CC BY 4.0 content:
Look for the CC BY 4.0 symbol at the bottom of a chart or table. This means:
- The chart, table, and underlying data are free to use for both commercial and non-commercial purposes.
- You can modify, adapt, or redistribute the content—even commercially.
- You must credit OnlyFacts and link back to us.
We invest significant effort in aggregating, cleaning, and communicating data—and we’re giving it away for free. Citing and linking back helps us continue this work.
All Rights Reserved Content (ARR)
If a table, chart, or piece of content does NOT have a CC BY 4.0 symbol, it is considered All Rights Reserved by default.
What this means:
- You cannot reproduce, distribute, or modify the content without written permission.
- Certain datasets, proprietary research, and editorial content fall under this category.
If you’re unsure about a specific use case, contact us to discuss licensing options.
Licensing for Media, Education, Research, and Government
Media Licenses:
Media organisations can use our CC BY 4.0-licensed charts and data freely.
However, we also offer additional benefits for media partners, including:
- Exclusive data access.
- Free live data feeds.
- Custom visualisations or integrations.
If you’re a media outlet and want access to more, get in touch.
Education and Research Licenses:
If you’re a teacher, researcher, or student, we want to support your work.
- CC BY 4.0 content can be used freely.
- If you need something beyond CC BY 4.0 materials, let us know—we may be able to provide additional datasets or assistance.
Content Syndication
Want to republish our explainers or editorial content?
We offer OnlyFacts Republishing Licenses that allow you to:
- Reprint articles, explainers, or visualisations.
- Integrate our editorial content into your platform.
- Maintain compliance with our terms while benefiting from our research.
If you’re interested, contact us to discuss licensing options.
Data requests
We frequently receive requests for access to full datasets. Since curating and organising data is valuable work, we categorise requests into two groups:
Public Interest Requests (Free, with Attribution)
If you need data for education, news, or research purposes, we’ll do our best to provide it for free. However, in return, we ask that you:
- Publicly cite OnlyFacts as the source.
- Provide a testimonial, review, and social media mention to help us continue our work.
Commercial Requests (Paid Access)
If you request data for commercial or private use, there will be a charge based on the complexity and value of the dataset.
Even if the data is publicly available elsewhere, our work in collecting, cleaning, and organising it adds value. If you prefer, you can always retrieve the data directly from the source (which we always cite and link to).
If you’d like to discuss commercial data access, contact us.
API Access & Live Data Feeds
We provide API and live data feeds for partners who need real-time access to our datasets.
- Live CSVs are available for select datasets.
- Media organisations, researchers, and businesses may be eligible for direct API access.
Interested? Contact us to explore API integratsion.
Final Notes
- Always check the license of a specific chart, table, or dataset before reuse.
- CC BY 4.0 content can be freely used (with attribution).
- All Rights Reserved content requires permission.
- Media, educators, and researchers may be eligible for special licensing.
